Yom Teruah – Sunset September 11, 2018
Chag Sameach!
The September 10th evening report from Israel says that tonight is the 29th day of the month, tomorrow, the 11th, is the 30th day.
There has been a little confusion about the sighting of the new moon tonight (September 10th) in Israel. One man reported seeing it through binoculars from north Israel. But, no one reported it sighted from Jerusalem. The ancient paths tell us there have to be two witnesses sighting it from Jerusalem!
Thus by default, September 11th being the 30th day, and Hebrew months don’t go beyond 30 days, the shofars should be blown for Tishre 1 at sunset September 11, 2018!
Derek’s comment at 6:10 PM September 10th: “The new moon was sighted in north Israel by binoculars – plus only one witness. I feel confident it’s tomorrow night.”
Be ready tomorrow night at sunset to blow your shofar where you are!
Leviticus 23:24-25! Chag Sameach! Blow the shofars!
Tomorrow night at sunset begins the seventh month of the Festival Year, Tishre. It begins with the sighting of the new moon from Jerusalem to determine the day and hour of the fifth Festival of Yahuwah – Yom Teruah – the day of trumpets and shouting. This Festival is also known as “ha Din,” the Day of Judgment. Tishre is the first month on the Creation calendar, the timing of Yahuwah for the world.
Jeremiah 6:9-10, 16-19: “Thus says Yahuwah of hosts, `Let them thoroughly glean a vine, the remnant of Israel, pass your hand again over the braches like a grape-gatherer. To whom shall I speak and give warnings so that they hear? See their ear is uncircumcised and they are unable to listen. See the word of Yahuwah is a reproach to them, they do not delight in it…Thus says Yahuwah, `Stand in the ways and see and ask for the ancient paths where the good way is and walk in it, and find rest for yourselves. But they said “we do not walk in it.” I raised up watchmen over you and said `Listen to the sound of the ram’s horn!’ But, they said, “we do not listen.” Therefore hear, you nations, and know O congregation what is upon them! Hear O earth! See I am bringing evil upon this people even the fruit of their thoughts because they have not listened to My words, or to My Torah, and they rejected it.”
Please, for a good Word study, go to “The Season of the Coming of Messiah”/Mikvah of Preparation. Look up and read in context all the Scriptures in which Yahuwah reveals the season of the coming of Messiah and judgment on the wicked, see how all end-time prophecy aligns to this season for His coming. Be knowledgeable of the times and seasons of our Elohim!
I used to teach at New Moon celebrations in East Texas. When the new moon was sighted, we’d all run outside and see it, and those with shofars blew their shofars even in the middle of a town like Tyler, Texas. I loved it! We’d feast and dance and fellowship. How wonderful!
This is the time of the harvesting of the five fruit species – grapes, pomegranates, dates, figs, and olives.
Ya’cob 5:7-8: “So, brothers, be patient until the coming of the Master. See, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and the latter rain. You, too, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Master draws near.”
I Thessalonians 5:1: “Now, brothers, as to the times and seasons, you do not need to be written to, for you yourselves know well that the Day of Yahuwah comes as a thief in the night, for when they say `peace and safety,’ then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman and they shall not escape, BUT YOU brethren are not in darkness that this Day should overtake you as a thief…” We know how to watch for the new moon and be alert and waiting. Messiah can only return at the beginning of one season of the year – Tishre–season of Yom Teruah.
Matthew 24:29-31: “And immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun shall be darkened and the moon shall not give its light and the stars shall fall from the heaven and the powers of the heaven shall be shaken and then the sign of the Son of Adam shall appear in the heaven and then all the tribes of the earth shall mourn and they shall see the Son of Adam coming on the clouds of the heaven with power and much esteem.”
Psalm 81:1-3: “Shout for joy unto Elohim our strength; raise a shout to the Elohim of Ya’cob. Lift up a song and beat the tambourine, the pleasant lyre and with the harp. Blow the ram’s horn at the time of the new moon, the full moon on our Festival day.”
This Psalm speaks of the blowing of the shofar at Yom Teruah (new moon) and at the full moon of Passover. Yom Teruah announces the new calendar year that marks time from the creation of the world.
Aviv 1 (March or April) announces the beginning of the Festival year, with Passover at the full moon. Exodus 12:2 says that the Festival calendar is “for us,” “for us,” – repeated twice for emphasis, not for the world’s people, but for those who are in Covenant with Elohim. Tishre is the 7th month on the Aviv calendar.
Matthew 24:36: “But concerning the day and the hour no one knows, not even the messengers of heaven but my Father only…”
This expression is a Hebrew expression for Yom Teruah–the only Festival whose timing is gauged by the sighting of the new moon by two witnesses from Jerusalem, by the “ancient paths.”
Two witnesses in ancient days would sight the new moon in Jerusalem, then go to the High Priest with their findings. The High Priest would ceremonially question them, and if satisfied that indeed the new moon was sighted, he would command the shofar to be blown, and a fire to be lit on the Mount of Olives. Those on other designated mountain tops would begin lighting fires–from Jerusalem all the way to the north of Israel, so that everyone would know it was Tishre 1, Yom Teruah. From that day, Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) begins 10 days later, and 5 days later begins the 8-day rejoicing of Sukkot.
Hey folks, September 11, 03 BCE is also Yahushua’s birthday. It was a Yom Teruah! More than ever we call “Come Yahushua Come!”
Yom Teruah is also the birthday of Creation. So we join with our Creators in celebration.
Shalom, joy and blessings,
Yedidah
