Letter with new moon January 13th Sunset 2024
Happy Rosh Chodesh!
January 13, 2024 at sunset will begin the Hebrew month of Shevat.
From Devorah’s Date Tree: “The 29th day, the attempted sighting of the new moon from Jerusalem showed no sign of a new moon as black clouds over Jerusalem were thick. SO, we default to the 30th day, the maximum day of a Hebrew month, and begin the month of Shevat on the eve of January 13.
Later Devorah sent an update saying that someone in the Galilee sighted the new moon. That’s nice – HOWEVER – however, according to ancient ways of Yahuwah, the new moon has to be sighted from Jerusalem by two or more witnesses. That was so that the two witnesses would go to the High Priest to tell him of the sighting. Then the High Priest would order the lighting of fires on certain mountain tops from Jerusalem to the north and south of Israel alerting all of Israel that the new month had begun.
No, we don’t have a human High Priest anymore, but we sure do have a High Priest – Yahushua, Messiah, soon-coming King. From Devorah’s Date Tree: “Remember, from our perspective on earth, it takes the moon an average of 29.5 days to complete its cycle. This means that the New Moon will generally be visible, either at the end of the 29th day, or at the end of the 30th day. As this was the end of the 29th day, if no positive reports come in later this evening’s observation, (the 12th of January 2024), we will plan on going out again tomorrow evening to try to witness the New Moon.” No more reports came from Jerusalem.
Since the new moon was not sighted from Jerusalem, by Yahuwah’s ways of doing things, tomorrow night begins the new month: January 13, 2024. Shalom, Yedidah |
