Greetings:
We’re in Adar – the 12th month on the Festival calendar – as of tonight February 6th, by default.
That means that since a Hebrew month cannot be more than 30 days, and it was too cloudy to see the new moon last night or tonight from Jerusalem, and no one reported in from anywhere in Israel that they’d seen it, the new moon is declared tonight for Adar. Devorah Gordon gives accurate sightings from Jerusalem (Devorah’s Date Tree). Derek and I did some moon sighting with Devorah, Bruce Brill, and other friends, in 2016.
So…Happy Rosh Chodesh! We’re in the time of preparation for the latter rains, that will bring the barley harvest! Let us be attentive to what the Spirit says to us.
Blessings,
Yedidah
